Google reviews are the fastest way to win a family’s trust and get more banquet bookings. When people compare halls, they pick the one with more recent, genuine reviews, often before they even call. The good news: getting reviews is simple once you have a system. This guide gives you that system, plus ready to use messages you can start sending today. And the golden rule throughout: never buy or fake reviews. Do it the right way.
Why Google Reviews Matter So Much For Banquet Halls
A banquet booking is a big, emotional, expensive decision, so trust decides everything. Reviews build that trust in three ways: families read them before choosing, Google uses them to decide who ranks higher on Maps, and Google’s AI answers are more likely to mention halls with strong, recent reviews. In short, more genuine reviews mean more visibility and more confidence, the two things that turn a search into a booking.
How Many Reviews Does A Banquet Hall Need?
There is no magic number. The real goal is to have more recent, genuine reviews than the halls currently ranking above you. Just as important is the flow: a steady stream of two to three new reviews a week is far more powerful than twenty reviews collected in a single day. A sudden burst looks unnatural to Google and fades quickly; a steady flow signals a busy, trusted hall and keeps you climbing.

How To Get More Google Reviews: Step By Step
1. Create A Short, Direct Review Link
Do not make people search for your hall to leave a review. Most will give up. Google gives every profile a short review link that opens the review box in one tap. Get yours from your Google Business Profile, shorten it, and save it. Turn it into a QR code too, so you can print it and place it at your reception desk.
2. Ask At The Right Moment
Timing is everything. Ask when the client is happiest, right after a successful event, or the next morning while the memory is fresh. Waiting a week means the excitement has faded and most people forget. Build the ask into your process so it happens after every event, not just when you remember.

3. Use WhatsApp: It Works Best In India
A polite WhatsApp message gets far more reviews than email or a verbal request. Send the client a short thank you with your review link. Keep it warm and personal, not like a form. Here is a message you can copy and adapt:
Hi [Name], thank you so much for celebrating [event] with us at [Hall Name]! 🎉
It truly meant a lot to host your special day.
If you have a moment, a quick Google review would help other families find us:
[your review link]
Thank you, and wishing you all the happiness ahead!
4. Make It Effortless
Every extra step loses reviews. Put your review link and QR code where clients naturally see them: on the reception desk, in your WhatsApp bio, on the event invoice or thank you card, and in your Instagram bio. The easier you make it, the more reviews you get.
5. Ask More Than One Person Per Event
A wedding or party involves many happy people, the couple, both families, and sometimes the event planner. Politely invite a few of them to share their experience. One event can bring several genuine reviews if you simply ask the right people at the right time.
6. Send One Gentle Reminder
People are busy and forget. That is normal. If a client has not reviewed within a few days, send one friendly reminder. One nudge is fine; more than that feels like pressure. A single well timed reminder often doubles your review rate.

How To Respond To Every Review
Replying to reviews is not optional. It shows future clients you care, and it is a signal Google values. Respond to every review within a day or two.
Responding To Positive Reviews
Thank them by name and naturally mention the event and your hall, which quietly adds keywords too:
Thank you so much, [Name]! It was an honour to host your daughter’s wedding at [Hall Name].
We’re so glad the decor and catering made the day special. Wishing the couple a wonderful journey ahead!
Responding To Negative Reviews
Never argue in public. Stay calm, acknowledge the concern, apologise where fair, and take it offline. A graceful reply to a bad review often impresses future clients more than the review itself:
Dear [Name], we’re sorry your experience did not meet expectations. That’s not the standard we aim for.
We’d truly like to understand and make it right. Please call us at [number] so we can help.

What Not To Do (This Can Get You Penalised)
The wrong shortcuts can cost you your ranking or even your listing:
- Never buy reviews. Google detects fake review patterns and can suspend your profile.
- Never offer discounts or gifts for reviews. Incentivised reviews break Google’s rules.
- Do not ask only happy clients while blocking unhappy ones (“review gating”). This is against Google policy.
- Do not post reviews from your own or staff accounts. Fake reviews from linked accounts are easy for Google to spot.
Genuine reviews, collected steadily, always win in the long run and they never put your listing at risk.

What About Fake Or Unfair Negative Reviews?
If you get a review that is fake, from a competitor, or breaks Google’s rules, such as abuse, spam, or someone who was never a client, you can report it to Google for removal through your profile. Removal is not guaranteed and can take time, so also reply politely in public. A calm, professional response protects your reputation while you wait. The best defence, though, is a steady flow of genuine positive reviews that pushes any single bad one far down.
Frequently Asked Questions
Send every recent happy client a short WhatsApp message with your direct review link, right after their event. Asking at the moment of happiness, with a one tap link, is the fastest way to collect genuine reviews.
No. Offering money, discounts, or gifts for reviews breaks Google’s rules and can get your listing penalised. Always ask for honest reviews without any incentive.
Aim for more recent, genuine reviews than the halls ranking above you, and keep a steady flow of a few each week. Consistency matters more than hitting a specific total.
Yes, always, calmly and politely. Acknowledge the concern, apologise where fair, and move the conversation offline. Future clients judge you by how you handle criticism, not by whether you ever received any.
You can report fake or policy breaking reviews to Google for removal, but it is not guaranteed. Reply professionally in the meantime, and focus on building genuine reviews that outweigh it.
